X Shore named official boat of the 2026 World Championship

Det svenska elbåtsföretaget X Shore har utsetts till officiell leverantör av domar- och funktionärsbåtar till VM i lagsegling 2026, som arrangeras av Gamla Stans Yacht Sällskap (GSYS). Mästerskapet avgörs på Riddarfjärden i centrala Stockholm med ett tydligt mål: att bli världens mest hållbara seglingsevenemang. 

Samarbetet inleds redan i maj 2025, då X Shores elbåtar används som startfartyg under Stockholm International Team Race (SITR). Årets tävling gästas av lag från bland annat New York Yacht Club, Royal Thames Yacht Club, Newport Harbour Yacht Club och Annapolis Yacht Club.

– Vi är extremt stolta över att bidra med våra båtar till vad som ska bli världens mest hållbara VM i lagsegling – från återvinning till fossilfri drift, säger René Hansen, vd för X Shore.

 – Segling och eldrift delar samma värderingar: tyst, rent och i harmoni med naturen. Samtidigt ser vi ett starkt ökat intresse från den professionella sektorn.

 Övergången från fossildrivna båtar, särskilt äldre tvåtaktsmotorer, till eldrift är avgörande. Enligt Transportstyrelsens kartläggning från 2019 släpper svenska fritidsbåtar ut cirka 177 000 ton koldioxid per år, motsvarande över 110 000 tur- och returflygresor Stockholm–New York, samt 2 100 ton kolväten. 

 Med modeller som X Shore 1, flaggskeppet Eelex 8000 och den modulära arbetsbåten X Shore PRO, erbjuder X Shore eldrivna lösningar för både privat och kommersiell användning. För professionella användare innebär övergången till eldrift inte bara en eliminering av CO2-utsläpp, bränsle- och bullerföroreningar, utan även en reduktion av driftkostnaderna med upp till 90 procent jämfört med fossildrivna alternativ.

 Ett VM med hållbarhetsfokus

GSYS har länge arbetat med att koppla samman segling och miljöansvar. VM 2026 i lagsegling för kölbåtar blir inte bara det första i sitt slag i Europa, det blir också världens första VM i segling med en utsedd hållbarhetschef.

The Swedish electric boat company X Shore has been appointed the official supplier of jury and support boats for the 2026 Team Sailing World Championship, organized by Gamla Stans Yacht Sällskap (GSYS). The championship will take place on Riddarfjärden in central Stockholm with a clear goal: to become the world’s most sustainable sailing event.

The collaboration begins as early as May 2025, when X Shore’s electric boats will be used as starting vessels during the Stockholm International Team Race (SITR). This year’s event will host teams from, among others, the New York Yacht Club, Royal Thames Yacht Club, Newport Harbor Yacht Club, and Annapolis Yacht Club.

The transition from fossil-fueled boats—especially older two-stroke engines—to electric propulsion is critical. According to a 2019 survey by the Swedish Transport Agency, Swedish leisure boats emit around 177,000 tons of carbon dioxide annually, equivalent to more than 110,000 round-trip flights between Stockholm and New York, as well as 2,100 tons of hydrocarbons.

A World Championship with a focus on sustainability
